London Calling used to be a really good London guide. Nowadays, I don't know.. but there are still a few things worth checking out.

If you can't be there in person, NetLondon is a pretty good alternative. Here you can do online shopping from London and find all of the UK sites you need for a complete British experience on the net. Great!
The Original London Walks - great guided walks around London. For example Jack the Ripper's London, The Beatles magical mystery tour and Bloomsbury - a literary London pub walk.
Camden Town Online - Cinemas, theatres, restaurants, music, shops....
Urban75 - British underground magazine. Lots of interresting reading.
Fashion UK - new, hot London fashion & design.
In the shopping guide you find lots of nice clothes shops.
If you, like me, are a natural born shopper, then perhaps you will enjoy the "Shops & Business district".
Take a walk along Portobello Road. Look at the shops, meet the people and listen to the sounds. Great interactive walk.

Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. If you feel like taking a walk and do nothing but contemplate for a day, then Kew is the place to go. It's huge. And lovely. And so typically English.
