This workshop is specifically aimed at laboratory managers and directors, scientists, biosafety professionals and security managers, research and laboratory personnel. The International Centre for Infectious Diseases is presenting, in collaboration with the Sandia National Laboratories and the National Microbiology Laboratory of the Public Health Agency of Canada, an intensive three-day workshop focusing on the implementation of a biosafety and biosafety management system on the new cen workshop agreement (CWA) 15793:2008 and the WHO guidance document ”Responsible life sciences for global health security”.  ” focus. This unique workshop combines effective lectures, practical tabletop exercises and role-playing. We will examine key aspects of evaluation, reduction, performance and responsible research in the life sciences and examine and discuss the growing need for a comprehensive review of the existing approach to biosafety, biosafety and bioethics in the laboratory and research environment. Using new tools, practical examples and dual-use case studies, bioethics, bio risk assessment, project management and performance improvement, we will highlight the importance and usefulness of a comprehensive bio-management system. In addition, implementation strategies and lessons learned are discussed by experts from Sandia National Laboratories and National Microbiology Laboratory on their experience in implementing CWA 15793:2008. Learning objectives are assessed through tests before and after the seminar, observation and presentations/demonstrations by participants and may change.
